whats the best software for overwritting old HDD.

Hello, I wanted to ask, I want to overwritte old HDD so data can not be recovered easily. Is CCleaner good enough?

use WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics ... the full erase option : https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en&p=3

 

Should be around 600 KB download.

 

It works with all drives, not just WD.

use Hiren's boot cd/dvd has lots of relevant utilities

Random linux live usb and run the data overwrite commandline thing

Windows commandline replace all data with 0

Hi there

1. Format the drive

2. Delete all partition

4. Create a single partition

5. Then use the MiniTool Partition Wizard to wipe partition and filling the sectors with (0&1, DoD-M or DoD-STD)=RAW.

                                                                               IT'S GOING TO TAKE FOREVER; BUT BE PATIENT

6. Use stelar or EaseUS recovery to be assured that the drive got wiped permanently.
