Okay guys, here is what happened some guys were working on a new current line in front of my house they screwed up the phase wires which caused an over voltage flow which in turn blew up my PSU smoke started to come out I immediately turned off my computer and opened it I saw the some sort of liquid come out of the capacitor which was in the PSU and it poured right onto my GPU (and some on my Mobo) but there was a back plate protecting most of the GPU's internal circuit but there were holes for the airflow in the back plate which let some of the liquid pass through which fell on the circuit board, the GPU is fairly new I can't open the gpu's back plate to clean which will void my warranty so kept it in front of a fan to help with the evaporation the question is that do I wait for a few days for the acid to dry up and check the GPU or open the GPU back plate voiding the warranty to clean it or just give it to the company itself for replacement without checking it?

And I don't see any damage to the GPU or the Mobo.

MY PC SPECS -
Ryzen 5 1600
Galax GTX 1660
Gigabyte A320-S2H motherboard
Cooler Master 500W PSU (The one which blew up)
8GB DDR4 3000mhz RAM
1TB HDD

I built it on 2019, September.

I am freaked out!! Need help

definitely. then open it up and see.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

depending on the country you're in, like the usa, warranty void stickers are non-binding

^ Correct.

Even EVGA has mentioned it a few times you are free to remove the GPU cooler, slap a water block on it, redo the thermal paste, whatever.

At least, there is for their cards, and they don't even have stickers over any of the screws.

^ Also correct.

Highly recommended to clean the acid / corrosive liquid off as soon as possible.

Is your PSU mounted to the TOP of the case, above the motherboard?

This is the reason I run a UPS. During brownouts, overvoltages, and power loss, the UPS protects my PC from most of this.

That said, I have lost multiple PC's in the past to voltage problems. Lightning struck near my house and wiped out the right channel of my onboard sound, back in 2002. A power surge took out a motherboard back in 2005. Lightning in 2006 fried one of my networking cards, along with a switch.

also depending on the country: the people who cause any damage to others are held liable.

it's really not an option to get compensation by the "guys"  who caused this, huh?

Find out what company they work for, report the incident and claim it damaged your computer and get them to cover the cost of a new computer.

Invest in a surge protector as well.

Do you have photographs of the damage?
