It looks nice and protects the back of the card. Also adds rigidity to the card.

As stated. Slightly helps disperse heat, rigidity for the card, and protection to the pcb.

I would buy one for easier cleaning and looks. It will be easier for an anti ESD brush to clean dust that gets stuck on that rather than when its stuck on a regular PCB.

get some led strips on those backplates if its a video card

rigidity stops the flex at the ends of the card

slightly helps cooling cuz its metal
