overclocking I want to overclock my RAM, but my efforts in doing so have been futile. Please help?

Before anything else, here are my specs:

• Ryzen 5 2600 (not overclocked)
• MSI B450-M Pro-VDH MAX
• T-Force DELTA TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR4 2x8GB
• Super Flower LEADEX III Gold 550w

So, I bought T-Force DELTA TUF Gaming Alliance RGB DDR4 2x8GB as my ram sticks since it is capable of 3200mhz. Problem is, I have to overclock it to get the mhz that I desire. I've tried using the A-XMP profiles that are in my bios, but unfortunately the 1st preset that's supposed to overclock my ram to 2933mhz has errors when I do a stress test and I also got a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD from it, while the 2nd preset that's supposed to overclock it to 3200mhz just doesn't work. I even tried the Memory TryIt option yet it seems to not work still. I've been told that I should use a DRAM Calculator and Thaiphoon but I have no idea how to use it, especially the timings. I'm also told to use MemTest but I do not have a flash drive with me nor I am able to get one soon. I really am lost on what to do lol Thanks in advance for any advice, tips, or opinions :)

Wait so you can't run the advertised speeds of the kit? what are they rated at exactly? also make sure they're in slot 2 and 4.

Not so far. Also, is it important to have your dual channel ram to be in slots 2 and 4? Because I have mine at 1 and 3. And also sorry but with "rate", do you mean the voltage?

it has to be in 2 and 4. also, 2000 series ryzen are picky with ram. i have 3000 rated ram but only works at 2933.

so if it's rated at 3200 and xmp is not working.. 

place them in slot 2 and 4 and if that did not help with setting the xmp profile, set the soc to 1.15 and dram to 1.35, after that, go for 2933 with xmp enabled, after that, if it's stable, go for 3200.

DDR4 3000 are 2933 (366.66 mhz x 8 )

It's important that two sticks be in the first channel together as indicated by your motherboard manual. That's generally 2 and 4, counting from the CPU side, but verify for your specific motherboard.

Thanks for the help guys! I switched my ram slots into 2 and 4 and tried the A-XMP preset, and it works! I didn't know ram placement was that important. Now, I just hope this is actually stable and doesn't crash, or will it?

Ya learn something new every day. Also this is another reason i always get 4 sticks of RAM so i don't have to worry about what slot they are in

You do know 4 sticks means more pressure on the imc which means you might get lower speeds? 

So no, 4 sticks doesn't really make things better lol.

I have 2400 sticks running at 3000 stable on a 3700x running at 4.4

sOME THINGS ARE SIMPLY NOT COMPATIBLE, YOU COULD TRY TO LOWER TIMINGS INSTEAD?

Cpu IMC on a 2600 is only rated to 2933mhz. Past this is an overclock and will require user modifications to go faster. 

There is no promise from AMD or the motherboard manufacturer, that these components will run the rated frequency of the memory.

difference between 2933 and 3000 is rather small anyways. I don't even notice a difference between 8gb 2933 and 16gb 3200... at least not immediately in games I tried...

 

I didn't test it properly and I'm sure there is a difference somewhere but I really didn't notice.(everything else exactly the same)

 

what I did notice was going from 2200G to Ryzen 3600, holy shit lol
