Good cases for transport

I'll probably upgrade my main rig's graphics card with the 3080 release and trickle down the parts through the rest.

 

I was thinking maybe on Black Friday upgrade my desk rig's cpu + mobo + ram, and with the leftovers build a PC for transport to carry with me when I go on holidays, or spending a weekend with my in-laws or such.

 

This is a medium term plan, so I have no rush. Also don't want to spend much on it, although i don't have a budget thought yet.

 

But I'd like to get some feedback on cases so I can start looking around and planing. I've seen some that look cool like the Corsair 380T, but seems discontinued.

 

My requirements are simple:

- Full size graphics card support (to put on of my 970's in it);

- Inner support for transport (not to get my PCI slots ripped out with the GPU weight or anything);

- study enough for transport (avoid stuff like broken side panels);

- not being big in size;

 

Nice to haves:
- at least micro ATX support;

- transport handles

Doubt you’d get a case like that for micro ATX. Those who want to transport their rig buy mini ITX like Lian Li TU150.

honestly mini ITX is the way to go for portability but if you end up with something ATX I recommend getting this for GPU support https://www.lian-li.com/gb-001/

if you're willing you could probably also make it work for a mATX board too

I had a Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 and its great for all the above listed but the only issue is they discontinued it awhile ago and goes for like 1300 dollars on amazon or about 800 on ebay haha...

My issue with mini ITX is just it generally drives cost up significantly.

I added a handle to a Q500L which uses all standard ATX size parts. I also cut out the fan holes for better airflow and added a monitor mount on the back lol

Nice mod! Did something similar to a Q300L (RGB Build log 2019 in my signature)
