Speakers usually have a slight humming noise, If that annoys you: turn them off.

If that doesnt annoy you however, its perfectly fine to leave them on. I've personally had mine on for 6~ years.

In the professional world the order to turn a sound system off is
Speakers
Amps
Control
Input

But for standard home equipment probably doesnt matter. Maybe save the world some power with standby usage and possibly help with how long the speaker lasts.

My system is all class A/B amplification so the speakers get turned right off to save on power. This is done through a remote control power outlet that all my computer stuff is connected to, one button and everything is cut off from power.

Is this ideal? No, the technically correct answer is to turn off devices from the end of your signal chain moving closer to the start. Always turn off before unplugging anything else, especially with tube gear (make sure you utilise the standby mode for tube amps)
