Networking issues after swapping to AMD

I've recently built a cheap gaming PC so i don't have to play games on my macbook anymore. But playing overwatch I am constantly at 100-300ms ping (up to 1000ms) on my macbook (on wifi) i get 30ms ping.

PC Specs
Ryzen 2600X
ASUS PRIME B450M-A
16 GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 3200Hz
GTX 1050Ti
120GB SSD

(Don't bash the specs I've built this to play one game and one game only and it plays at 200FPS fine)

What I've tried

  • Power line adaptors

  • 20m Ethernet lead

  • PCI-E Wifi Card

  • PCI-E Network card

  • Fresh install of windows

  • Download drivers from ASUS

  • Using different PSU

  • Tried ram at 2133MHz, 2933MHz and 3200MHz

your ping is meassured ingame right?
are you connecting to the same server in both cases?
iam guessing when you ping something like google it isnt a problem?

is there alot of updates etc running in background that sucks up all your connection so the game data cant get through?

I honestly cant say but this has happened 10+ times

I get an average ping of 18ms to google

Not that i could see, i even upped my connection with my broadband provider to 200Mbps

One easy way to find out whether the issue is on your side or the server, is to continuously ping Google while playing the game.

If you experience high latency ingame, but the ping to the google server is fine, then it's not an issue with your PC.

 

You can ping Google for longer periods by simply executing the following command in CMD 

ping 8.8.8.8 -t

I had no issues with my Intel machine before i built this PC but ive brought new kitchen stuff recently so tried other methods as said above. I even used a 20m ethernet lead pluged in directly to my router.

If you have connected directly to the Router using the patch cable, that is the fastest you are ever going to get.

Do a test with the patch cable to the router and then the Wifi/Powerline. Powerline has to be directly connected to the wall and not thru the power strip. Both the devices have to be on the same Electrical circuit.

 

If your ping 8.8.8.8 -t results are the same on Patch cable/wifi/powerline ( Wifi/Powerline may be a bit slow), then there is nothing wrong with the Network.

It could just be the Gaming server you are connecting to as it may have a lag.

 

One thing you can try to do is uninstall the network card from Device manager, and try the Auto reinstall, RC: Click on Search the internet.. Option and see if there is a difference.

 

The B450 Mb has known to be a problematic MB, although it is very popular among the builders, but it has documented bunch of issues as well.. just search this forum for B450 and you will see.

sounds like a software issue or you are logging on to australian region on new computer and eu on old while living in the EU :)

are you copying the game from directory or are you making a fresh install of the game?

 

 

with all the steps you have tried i would suspect software, and i must admit you have tried the things i would normally suspect. so iam drawing a blank.
