Need a recommendation on a power supply for rx 580 8gb crossfire

Hi, I know there's a lot of dislike with sli and crossfire, but I came across a super cheap deal. So I'm looking for recommendations on a power supply that will be able to handle 2 rx 580 8gb cards with the necessary pcie outputs. I want to find a solution that avoids the need for an adapter and I've my current psu only has one pcie cable. The rest look similar but have the wrong keys. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance!

The red is my pcie, I don't know what the black one is called

I would wait...

You aren't going to get anything worth buying now in the 750W range that you NEED anywhere near that price range.

If you are going to run crossfire you NEED to get a good high quality Tier A PSU.

You can always add the 2nd card later on once the pricing and availability gets better.

The 580 is still a pretty power hungry card.  To run two, you're going to need over 600w.  As for the PSU, 80+ bronze certified power supplies or better are recommended.  To be fair, the 580s in crossfire aren't going to perform much better than a single card if any better in a majority of newer titles, as crossfire is basically dead at this point.  Older titles will see a massive benefit running these cards though.

Well I can spend more when I get my next check if I need to. Two weeks isn't too long a wait

You can get an Ion+ 660W for $120, or the 760W variant for $10 more. 660W should be enough for two 580s though, unless you're running a really power hungry CPU to go along them. And you won't see 200W out of both GPUs while gaming all the time anyway because of Crossfire support lacking in modern games.

It's not "dislike". It just isn't going to do much for you. Very few games support multiple GPUs, so good deal or not, that second card is pretty much a waste. Not sure how much you paid, but unless you basically got the second one free, you'd have been better off spending the money on just one better card.

Yes yes, I know the bit, but my first objective is to do some skyrim modding lol. And I believe it's supported. I needed to upgrade my power supply anyways

Why not sell the second card for some money? There's probably no real benefit in running 2 580 in crossfire, most of the occasional performance benefits would probably be smaller than the issues that you will have by using crossfire with 2 power hungry GPUs.

I don't claim it is, but those certifications do include power factor, and I'd imagine a horrendously built PSU isn't going to hit the 0.9PF Requirement at full load - It's a jumping off point, not a specific PSU recommendation.

I've seen plenty of games benefit from crossfire. Plus I'm not out any money, cause I was upgrading anyway. Maybe I just want the clout of have a duel gpu system lol

You don't need 850W for what you've got, but if you're buying a new PSU right now, you should at least be aware that it looks like 850W is going to be the minimum for next gen cards, at least from Nvidia. If you think you might upgrade at any point, you might want to just go for 850W and call it a day. It doesn't hurt to have more than you need with PSUs and then you won't have to buy yet another PSU later.

the cx 750w will be your best bet, but all these units are somewhat decent, and none are group regulated
