I’m thinking on getting the ducky one 2 mini pure white, I was thinking on getting it with cherry mx reds but heard they aren’t the best. The keyboard also comes with Kailh box whites, speed copper and speed pro burgundy. So my question is are Kailh switches good and if so what one should I go with out of the 3 or should I stick to cherry mx

Personally out of these swtich options, I would prefer the Kailh BOX White, but they are wildly different from the Cherry MX Red switches (which I personally dislike).

In that one sentence, I had to use 'personally' twice, which perfectly sums up the experience with switches: it's a lot about personal preferences.

I would recommend trying out a couple different switch options (preferably on a full keyboard, like in a store, but it's understandable people don't really do that now..) or through a keyswitch tester.

That way you can find out what type of switches you like best.

Hm... You're comparing a Clicky vs. Tactile vs. Linear, each designed for different preferences.

  • Kailh BOX White: Clicky. BOX stem, or a cross-shaped stem bordered by a square-shaped enclosure. Slightly shorter actuation travel compared to Cherry MX Reds (≈ 1.8mm vs. ≈ 2.0mm), meaning the switch/stem doesn't have to travel as far a distance before a keystroke is registered. Clickbar creates a high-pitched clicky sound (not as crisp as BOX Jades/Navys, though).
  • Kailh Speed Copper: Tactile. MX-style stem, or the cross-shaped standard. Very short actuation travel compared to Cherry MX Reds (≈ 1.1mm vs. ≈ 2.0mm). Combined with the sharp tactility, users have mixed opinions of these (quote: "weird" and "not for everyone").
  • Kailh Pro Burgundy: Linear. MX-style stem, or the cross-shaped standard. Sightly shorter actuation travel compared to Cherry MX Reds (≈ 1.7mm vs. ≈ 2.0mm). You can expect the switch to be smoother than Cherry MX Reds.
  • Cherry MX Red: Linear. MX-style stem, or the cross-shaped standard. Actuation travel of ≈ 2.0mm.

For whether Kailh switches are 'good,' eh... Haven't tried out any of the above, but I'm using Kailh BOX Blacks (Linear, un-modded, un-lubed) and I'm pretty satisfied with the build quality and smoothness of the switch. Assuming that Kailh's manufacturing and QC is consistent with its BOX, Speed, and Pro switches, I'd recommend them, sure. 👍

I have those and I really like the short throw and that satisfying tactile bump.  If you think you would like tactile then I would recommend them.  I'm typing on gateron yellow and I find that the throw is a bit too long for my liking (but that's about the only thing " "negative" " for me about those gateron yellow).
