How do I use eSIM on Note 20 Ultra 5G?

ImNotNeko
Go to solution Solved by Glitch88,

I just got my Note Ultra 20 yesterday. I bought it believing that I could have dual SIMs whether that be with a SIM card and eSIM or the Hybrid tray where I could have two physical SIM cards. My menus look exactly like yours. No SIM Card Manager to be found anywhere.

Got on support. I was informed by them that they don't sell the Hybrid model (one that supports two physical SIM cards) in the U.S. I believe Canada falls in that boat as well. Unfortunate for both of us.

I asked about eSIM. Even though the Ultra's support eSIM, it technically isn't enabled I guess. They mentioned how there may be an update in the future to allow eSIM but as of right now, it isn't available. How long one has to wait for this is unknown. I am probably going to be returning mine as this was a reason I went with the Ultra.

If anyone else has any info on this, please update this post. I have been searching all over the place to enable eSIM.

I was following this guide:

https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/activate-esim/

The guide says:

Select SIM card manager

But I literally don't have that option....

when I entered imei to my carrier, it says my phone can have esim and my account already moved to esim.

I know I have esim client on the phone but I just don't know how to use the sim manager to connect to the service.

My main physical SIM is Bell and my esim is Freedom Mobile.

My phone is Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (N986W) <- bought from Samsung Canada directly through pre-order.

Do you have your physical SIM in it when you try to add it? Maybe try taking it out. Shouldn't have to, but might work.

I tried taking out the physical SIM as well.

Yea... I kinda figured yesterday that this is a software block on eSIM.

I found a way to unlock it but I think I will need to disable some of the security feature which means I can't do my banking and some other sensitive stuffs.

I guess NA is getting the short end of stick here.

We get the better chipset, snapdragon 865+, so I guess we lose dual sim in return.

Samsung be like: "perfectly balanced as all things should be"

I have the same problem, I bought the Note 20 Ultra 5G because I saw reviews saying the US version has dual sim via esim. I don't even have the esim client. How did you get that? You also said you found a way to unlock esim functionality, can you please share that here?

No, hybrid sim is limited to Exynos version is what I'm hearing.

If this is true, I genuinely prefer Exynos version over Snapdragon... I really don't need all that performance if it means to sacrifice dual sim.
