Posted August 9, 2020 I'm rather new to the LTT forums, so excuse me if I format things wrong or don't know if there's a topic already covering this. I recently had to replace my CPU, motherboard and PSU due to an unexpected outage that took my surge protector and a bunch of components with it. Needed to replace the CPU and motherboard ASAP and the only option I had was a 10700 and z490-e gaming. Got a deal on them at a local store thanks to tax free weekend in my state so they were a better offer than a 3700x. My question is, is my dark rock 4 (non pro) capable of cooling it? I won't be able to test until monday and need suggestions on coolers if not. The case I currently have is the masterbox NR600, so the max cooler height is 166mm. I also run LPX ram, so it's low profile and fits underneat my dark rock 4. Before this CPU I was running a 3600 and it kept it more than cool. I don't plan on changing any settings on the i7, so it'll be completely stock for now. Any suggestions or is my current cooler adequate?
 Posted August 9, 2020 It will work wonders since you can't overclock. Enjoy! Masterbox Nr600 has decent airflow so you are fine. But don't worry. if it doesn't for some reason keep it cool. just buy better cooler like NH D 15 or dark rock pro 4. But those coolers aren't really huge upgrade from your current one. if it doesn't run cool just post here so we can help QUOTE ME FOR ANSWER. Posted August 9, 2020 Author Thanks for the lovely replies! I was considering picking up the pro 4 since it has more clearance than the d15 and I'm a huge fan of bequiets silent wings fans. I appreciate the help!

Posted August 9, 2020 Author That's what I plan on doing as soon as my power supply comes in. Was just curious what others thoughts were on my current situation and recommendations on other ones if not.
 If it doesn't work out with the DR4 (though I doubt it) and aren't a fan of the really bulky dual towers, you could get something like an NH-U12A, with the caveat that it still comes with poop and tan fans. They're among the best in terms of performance on the market (NF-A12x25), make no mistake, but they're definitely not the prettiest thing.
