I have all my cables in one overstuffed small box. Three hard drives lying on the desk. USB drives in the bathroom.

How do you store (and keep track of) all your hardware? My best attempt was when I moved a lot of stuff down to the basement, and kept inventory in a Google Keep note. Not very practical.

Looking for inspiration.

I’ve got my cables in a little box, small things like flash drives and power banks in a drawer in my desk, and extra pc components on a shelf in my closet.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Quote or tag me so I can see your response

I have a large Rubbermaid bin full of cables and misc peripherals (tangle city down there). All my components are either in boxes that are stacked up the wall, or wrapped in anti-static bags in boxes that are stacked on the wall. However, I have 3 massive stacks of hard drives on my desk, most of which are dead.

Spoiler

I should really clean up this fucking mess ;-;

I use Google Sheets to keep inventory.

I don't think I can get around just having more boxes. Just need to figure out a way to nicely label them.

A quick Google search on "Rubbermaid bin" gives multiple boxes that aren't see-through. Do you have see-through, or do you have a different way to keep know where everything is?

Do you have a specific system in how you mange it all?

I have a tab for each type of component, then have make model serial number, and relevant specs. That way I can use auto filter for like "LGA1366", for those CPUs/mobo's.

Well I currently have one...two...three...four...five... six keyboards lying around in the open (not counting ones hidden away in drawers). I have an older MBA battery in my ewaste pile along with an ancient XPS gaming tower (dead PSU and trashed mobo/case, not worth keeping). Looking over in that corner I also see a random LGA 775 board leaning against the wall, several cables/power adapters/chargers, my Dell G2410 with no stand (not going to ewaste, just happens to be in that corner), etc etc etc. And this is just the visible shit, don't even get me started on my serveral dozen pounds of cables under my bed, another 8 or so keyboards in my closet and under my bed, drawers full of random hardware...it goes on and on.

tl;dr fucking everywhere but at least it's sort of organized

Quote me to see my reply!

That's quite neat! I think it would be a great upgrade for me to keep track on more things than what is just in the basement.

You ever seen Mythbusters? You know how M5 is set up, with shelves everywhere and things labeled and organized in a rational and precise manner?

Imagine that...but instead of being done by someone with Jamie's anal retentiveness, is the exact opposite and is a lazy slob to boot.
