yea, im saying it's probably an LGA775 board, unless the board is swapped/sticker is decorative

only way to know is having a picture of the board and PSU

Not worth upgrading if you want to game you would need to make a new build in that case to make it good

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

The Core 2 Duo and Windows XP stickers already say a lot: It's old and the motherboard is definitely not usable for modern hardware.

You could proably still use the case, if you really want. The motherboard and probably the PSU aswell are most likely unusable apart from running 2003 software...

judging by the ram slot, looks like DDR2, socket is probably LGA775

not too familiar with motherboard from that era, but that seems like a north and south bridge (or onboard graphics and south bridge, LGA775 chip dont have GPU on the CPU die itself), which isnt a thing for quite a while now

seems the motherboard is missing a heatsink on the northbridge so probably not gonna work

I looked for the serial number and found someone selling it on ebay

A Yorkfield Core 2 Quad with 8GB of DDR2/3 and an SSD can run Windows 10 no problem, and will work for basic stuff and light workloads.

I'm not saying that this necessarily applies here in OP's case, since if that's a DDR2 board then the limit will be 4GB to my knowledge for memory, but saying that LGA775 is "unusable apart from running 2003 software" is just not the case.

You might be able run it, but being able to run something, doesn't mean it's comfortable to run something. Drivers on this thing will probably be pretty old, you won't have "new" features like USB 3.0. Probably not even SATA III. It might be runnable but not fun to work with even for quite basic workloads. Imo it's not worth the hassle to acquire working components from second hand.

Well it just so happens that up until a few months ago, I had a system with a Q9650, 8GB of DDR2 1066MHz memory and some old 840 EVO SSD I had lying around running and rendering some fairly light Blender projects, as well as Photoshop. Web browsing's a breeze, unless you throw 4K YouTube playback at it - it does chug a fair bit there.

No USB 3.0, that's a bummer. No SATA 3, but a regular SSD running on SATA 2 will be faster than any hard drive on SATA 3, and still not far off the same SSD on SATA 3 in day to day tasks. It's still snappy, even on 3Gbps.

I'm totally not contesting that, I likely wouldn't recommend anyone to run out and buy a C2Q in 2020, when Ivy Bridge Optiplexes are cheap and obviously much more modern and user friendly, I'm just saying that LGA775 is not totally obsolete as you seemed to be suggesting.

I exaggerated. You're totally right in saying it's not completely unusable. Tbh, my thought in saying this was more or less: It's so old, don't bother with wacky stuff from the past unless you specifically want that for whatever reason.
