Pc won’t boot !!

Ashhez
Go to solution Solved by Sat1600,

also unplug the pc remove the cmos battery hit the power button and put the battery back in

So I built this PC a month or so ago and I wake up this morning and the lights that are normally on in the system weren’t on. There is normally 2 lights Above the gpu and on on the mobo. I couldn’t get it to boot at all I reseated everything tried different psu cables and different outlets. I think it’s most likely a motherboard problem but I don’t really know. Spec- ryzen 9 3900x rtx 2080super aorus x570 master 64gb of tridentZ royal @3600 MHz Corsair rm850x the system is always plugged into a 950w APC and it works great.

Really sweet build. Let's start with the obvious. Is the switch on the psu in the on position?

Yes ofc. Tried almost everything with the psu but I’m not exactly sure how to tell if that’s it or not.

Only way to know for sure is to try another psu. Do you have a spare to test with?

Any error codes?

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

OK. Let's try some basic troubleshooting. Remove the graphics card and ram. Let's see if we can get power to the motherboard. Obviously it won't display but it should light up

Clear CMOS.

Try booting with only the basic components  (so CPU, Motherboard, 1 stick of ram, 1 storage drive, gpu).

press power the computer while unplugged to clear power

dissasemble the parts and place mobo on box

reassemble PC

remove CMOS battery for a couple of hours

try again, with ram, cpu, and gpu only

Yes this works and it surprises me it's not on most troubleshooting guides

More likely the board got electrically charged or something

hope I knew before I bought another board and now I have 2 pcs :(

last thing is to enable XMP/DOCP in the BIOS, and then you are set!
