I changed the slot in which my RAM was installed and now my system is faster!

I opened up my laptop, just because and i changed the 8GB RAM stick ( DDR4 ),into another memory slot ( I thought why not, let's see what happens) and now my laptop boots faster and loads apps faster.

Can anyone explain why ? PS: I have a HP laptop with 1TB HDD core i5, Radeon Graphics and 8GB RAM (only one stick DDR4)

No data, no significance. In theory there shouldnt be any difference.

Placebo? :P

Have you actually measured the times or is that just how it feels?

In theory it's possible you now have the RAM installed in a slot closer to the CPU, but that shouldn't really be a noticeable difference.

If anything, I would be willing to guess you removing the RAM made the computer have to fully start over (instead of going out of hibernate), meaning the RAM was cleared, cache is gone, lingering background processes gone, etc.

No Bud ,its not placebo , before i did it boot time was very slow but now it boots faster ,i didn't measure it but it is faster,I didnt think it would make it faster or else i would have measured it!

If you are convinced of it not being placebo and are also convinced of it not being a fluke, you would just measure the bootup speed right now, switch the memory and measure it again to show a conclusive difference though.
