I have a Dark Rock Pro 4, with a Z490 Tomahawk and I cant get stable 5.0ghz (ring 47x) with 1.32 Vcore, at 1.330 however I reach 90-100 celsius temp under cinebench, what should I do?

Currently I ran 4.9Ghz ring 46x at 1.290 vcore. and I get up to 87Celsius temps.

I havent touched LLC or any other settings (yet).

Should I get a better cooler to at least control the heat?

idk bout intel temps, but that sounds a bit high

maybe cooler isnt tightened enough?

You can try LLC. However I wonder what your PSU is. I keep hearing how much these new 10 series CPU tax PSUs and it might be related.

You can try messing around with LLC if you want.

No it's one of the better coolers on the market.

Doesn't mean something is wrong.

It's a trial and error process. As I said you can try LLC but if you couldn't get to 5ghz that doesn't mean something is wrong. Probably just lost the silicon lottery.

So should I use it even lower clockspeeds to keep maximum 80C temp? like 4.8?

As I said I can get a stable 5,0 at 1.330 ish however the temps are going critical and thermal throttling happens so its not really a good scenario.

Can LLC changes effect this situation?

It can.

Reseat the cooler and reapply thermal paste just to make sure.

for daily use, i personally like to have my cpu below 80 degrees on max load

but having it at 4.9ghz is fine, especially if u dont pin it at 100% for a prolonged period

you probably wont see temp spikes that high in games

Right now its MSI auto

Try Medium, or something along those lines, then check what the Vcore droops to under load.

But, if up until now you've only been using Cinebench to test thermals and stability, I'd suggest dialing back the overclock slightly now, and starting to use Linpack Xtreme instead. Cinebench is not a stress test, it's a benchmark.

Okay stg is very wrong i got insanse temps even at 4.8 like 98 or so plus i got thermal throttling on 5 cores. I am now reseting the cooler but i think it was fine before so i think i jist bought the worst 10700k..

I reseated the CPU and the cooler, applied fresh paste, but the results aare the same, on stock setting i reach 80C (however the stock voltage for 4,7ghz all core is about 1.290V which is high?). I am not sure what is the cause of this problem :(

edit: linpack reaches 93-95C on stock.

remember that's with an avx offset, i'd probably stay at 4.9 or go 5.0 with a -1 offset, still those temps seems to be on the high side, it's not the cooler, i'd mess around with both llc and a -1 avx offset to get it stable/cooler, my best is a llc that's too high under load.

Take my current oc for example llc3 overheats, llc4 is perfect, llc5 bsods, vget respectively is 1.39v 1.32v 1.26v, actual vget under each llc is different for each board, u need to document the actual vget under load on each llc.

are u sure ur cpu is actually getting 1.33v on 5.0? or is it something higher in hwinfo?

Not sure how intensive linpack is but cinebench r20 and blender is the worst case real world load imho, but like @Mateyyy said it's not a stability test but more of a temp test (but if u never crash just playing games, eh...)

The issue is, i usually work 12 hours on this comp so stability and "long life" should be important too.

I am trying 4.9 @ 1.285V with llc4 but linpack just crashes after starting.

My ultimate goal is to keep the cpu temps under 80*C but having better voltages than the MSI basic "auto 4.7ghz @ 1.30V".

ur probably not gonna get below 80 if u do real full load work on it unless it's some kinda optimized stock setting around 4.7 or 4.8, i don't think upgrading the cooler will help much either outside of 360aio or custom loops, not worth it imo, aim for 4.9-1avx and optimize the voltage.

I have a 1.05v 4.4 profile for extreme summer temps so it's ok to run lower than max oc unless ur really bothered by it.

it's not the worst, it's average, u could end up with a worse one, there's about a 70% chance u don't get something better, and even if u do the diff is 100mhz.

If u dont already have top intake fans those help alot, but if u have ur comp below u then ud feel them.

Again i don't know what ur ambient temps and airflow setup is but those temps are on the high side and it's not ur cooler.
