How much should I spend to game on PC?

So I think that i might have posted something similar to this before, but i can't tell from past notifications, and it would be to deep down my list of content i've posted, so here we go. For awhile now, i've been saving up to buy my first gaming PC setup, but have been conflicted on the topic of how much i should be paying for a satisfactory experience, it seems that every time that i go into pc part picker, i end up with a $1,600 setup, which just doesn't make sense to me, i mean is that really how much a good setup costs. even after watching countless videos on the topic, i still don't understand. one big problem is, that i'm under the legal working age in my state, so i have a maximum of $112 per month of payment, in addition to christmas and birthday money. the thing about that is that if i wa t a $1,600 setup, i'll have to wait over 9 months to get it, and i really don't want to have to go any longer than 6. if you have any input on this topic that might be able to help me out, that would be great, also thanks for reading this whole thing. if you need any extra info please say so

It's only like $1000 max for a good PC depending on pricing, some things are expensive right now still

an R5 3600 + RX 5700 is just fine 1080p 144hz or 1440p 100hz ultra wide gaming.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The word satisfactory means different things to different people, so you just have to scope your situation appropriately. Also, is this 1600 with a monitor, or just the PC itself?

If budget is tight, 1080p gaming is the way to go, period. Find an old monitor in your house, buy a used one from craiglist/offer up/etc, and just do that for now. Yes, high refresh rate and adaptive sync are amazing, but those can be future upgrades... Right now, your budget should go into the PC itself, and not worry so much about peripherals.

For about 1000 bucks, you can build a very capable 1080p gaming machine. A Ryzen 3600 is under 200 bucks, pair that with a ~130 dollar motherboard, throw some 3200-3600MHz RAM at it for ~80 bucks, 512 SSD can be had for under 80 bucks as well, case and PSU total will be about 200 depending on what you get and the current state of the PSU market, and the rest should be spent on the video card. This would certainly be a "satisfactory" 1080p gaming experience.

I'd say $750 CAD is a good price. It's what I payed for my first build.

I would recommend a 512GB SSD instead of 128GB SSD + 2TB HDD. Many games choke on HDDs nowadays.

how long will that mobo be good

forever if you wanted, has good enough vrm's for slight overclocking, the thing that will limit you is the stock cooler not the board

Change the case. That one isn’t really well respected.

With cases, you want something that will suit your needs and that you  an hold onto for a long time.
