Should I choose the 4500u or the 4600u?

They are both the same model just a different processor, ram and storage. So they both have a 14 inch IPS display, wifi 6, finger print reader, color and aluminium body.

Then the model with more storage and RAM. SMT won't make up for half the memory.

Hi guys!

I am choosing between two laptops from Lenovo. One has a Ryzen 5 4600u and 8GB of ram with a 256GB NVMe SSD. The other one has a Ryzen 5 4500u and 16GB of ram with a 512GB NVMe SSD. I am going to use this latop for Office and probably some light Archicad work but nothing to heavy. I am really struggeling to make a choice between them because they are the same price and both have their pros and cons. Hope you guys can help!

Cheers, Boris

Which models are they?

I would personally go with the 16GB of RAM one if it's not upgradable or if you need lots of RAM.

Check each model. There is a LOT more to a laptop than paper specifications.

Ideapads aren't amazing machines, but if those are your only options, just decide based on if you need more RAM or (slightly) more CPU performance.

Is there something else you would recommend in the 650-700 dollar price range? Build quality is not my main focus point i would rather prefer better specs.

Used Thinkpad.

If all you want is power, get a desktop.

Yeah, as it is non upgradable i decided to get the 16GB model. It is the 14 inch model but I read that these limits can be removed with a program called Ryzen Controller. The 15 inch model is not available in my country. Thanks everyone for the replies!

Word of advice - the limits are there for a reason. Don't mess with them unless you want to spend more money on a new laptop
