I have an i5 4590, 16GB of ram and the RTX 2060s. Why am I getting lower than average FPS. I have so much storage left over. Just did a virus checker and it found nothing. What is wrong or what am I doing wrong? What can I do? The PSU is a AMP 650 80+ gold. Im getting about 55 degrees Celsius. Im getting around 150 frames when i turn around suddenly to test the frames. I dont know if thats bad or what exactly but any recommendations? Also I very recently had to reinstall windows so maybe theres something I could do there.

That's probably your culprit.

Have you been monitoring CPU usage at all, while gaming? Use something like MSI Afterburner, since that also has a customisable OSD.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

But it isn’t at 100% utilization when I’m playing, and it’s running at fast speeds too. I thought the i5 4590 was a good processor for gaming.

would say the i5 would be the issue. Maybe try up the settings ?

CPU - I9 10900 | CPU Cooler - Corsair Hydro Series H100x AIO | Motherboard -  Aorus B460 PRO AC | RAM -G.SKILL Ripjaw V series 4x8GB 2666MHZ | Graphics Card - Gigabyte RTX 3070  | Power Supply - Cooler Master 650w  | Storage -  Working on a new Spicy

Operating System - Windows 10 Pro

I have a H97M Anniversary motherboard. So maybe I should buy Ryzen? Which ones would be compatible? Also what do you mean when saying try up the settings?

Gaming is perfectly optimized for multi core in a lot of cases. 1 core at a high load will bottleneck your system. You probably are also running 1300-1600mhz ram which reduces gaming performance.

Yea, that might be the case. I’m running on DDR3 ram which might actually be the case. I guess I need new ram. :/. I also need to switch motherboard darn it.

list your old processor, ram, and mobo on something like ebay or craigslist. You could probably get around $80-120 for the combo which would help to offset the cost

I don’t have the box for the CPU so I can’t sell it, money isn’t the big problem I don’t have a low budget but replacing the motherboard is just the process I don’t want to do. CPU installation is easy, same goes to ram but I don’t know about motherboard.

You can get plastic cpu shells on amazon for cheap. You’re going to have to do it eventually and it only takes like 1-2 hours :) Even if you are t budget constrained you might as well if you don’t have other uses for the chip.
