Help With My New PC! :)

Hello everyone! My name is Andy and I am a beginner when it comes to PC builds, CPUs, and graphics cards. I do, however, play a lot of overwatch and want to play it at a consistent 240fps. I just recently bought a gaming PC online for $750 it was the CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme VR Gaming PC, Intel Core i5-9400F 2.9GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, with Win 10 Home. This PC does perform well and gets me to about an average frame rate of around 170 fps although during big fights it does drop quite a bit. Now my question for you is if money was not an issue what would I need to upgrade in order to get a consistent 240fps while playing overwatch. Or can I overclock the GPU or CPU to get to that framerate? I am happy with my current playing experience but I am just curious what it would take to get the best experience with the best framerates. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

what PSU?

if budget isnt an issue then get something like a 10600k and a rtx 2080ti and a better PSU along with another stick of ram and possibly a larger SSD.

also, welcome to the forums :)

Can't overlock a locked chip.

But the GPU is overclockable

Eh I mean yes I agree. But you'll have to move to a different platform sadly.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

that was a pretty bad deal you bought, but there are a few improvements you can make.

firstly, if you only have 1 stick of 8gb ram, buying another 8gb stick to enable dual channel should improve things by 10-20%

overclocking your gpu should yield another 10%. use msi afterburner for this.

look into reducing some of the details/settings in game. do you have a 240hz screen? if not, there is no point in achieving 240fps, as you won't see it.

no, as @TofuHaroto said, you will need to move to a different platform.

What do you mean exactly by switching platforms?

To get a higher FPS, you need to lower the quality to LOW.

Cheapest way to get more frames is to lower graphics settings like @SupaKomputa said.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yeah I have a 240hz monitor. I might try giving this a shot though! Thanks for the advise!
