Posted July 11, 2020 Hey everyone, I'm planning a build inside the NZXT H1 with a 3950x and a 2080ti. The most graphical intensive thing that I'll be doing is playing Red Dead Redemption 2 at maxed out settings, on my 2560x1440 monitor. I want to hit at least 60 fps doing that. I also want thermals to be good so that I don't deal with thermal throttling. So I'm just wondering if I should go with the Founders Edition 2080ti, or if I should go with a different one from a brand like EVGA or something. Let me know. Thanks! I feel like I saw on YouTube someone talked about Nvidia keeping the best dies for their founders editions, so from a performance perspective you might not get what you're looking for in a 3rd party card. However, I feel like those issues have been resolved since launch - Google search results for recent issues doesn't lead me to believe it will be a factor. Posted July 11, 2020 You need a 2080 ti that can operate at 2040 to 2085mhz. These cards usually have boost clocks over 1645mhz. My average on ultra was 83fps with a i7 8086k at 5ghz all cores and an EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti. That is with my 24/7 overclock with the default fan curve. I averaged 2070mhz. With removing the CPU overclock I lost 7 frames. I used the Hardware Unboxed settings to play the game and averaged 105fps at 1440p. It looked the same as Ultra so to me it was the way to play. Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me, it's not me it's my BPD. Posted July 11, 2020 Considering the graphics card in the H1 is right up against a grill panel, any two fan open-air card will do, even the Founder's Edition. My one gripe with the FE is how hard they are to take apart, hence why I prefer EVGA (and other AIBs that make your life easy). The one thing you'll have to watch out for is compatibility as lots of cards, while they only take up two PCIe slots in the rear, are actually around 2.5-2.75 slots in reality because of beefier coolers. Actual 3 slot cards, like the XC Ultra from EVGA won't fit at all if I'm not mistaken in the H1. Still, I'd probably look towards a 2080 Super instead. Or better yet, wait for Ampere. Spending $700+ on a graphics card now and it not being the best 3 months later isn't quite ideal imo. 10 minutes ago, gloop said: I’m pretty sure they don’t keep the absolute best, considering you have stuff like the HOF series from Galax, but I’d guess they keep the top 20% for themselves. They sort of used to, with separare "A" (binned) and non-"A" dies (not binned), up until the SUPER refresh of Turing when they stopped and started making all of their dies to the "A" standard, though very high-end aftermarket cards like the Lightning, HOF you mentioned and so forth could've very well also been using the binned cores. Respectfully, I disagree. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-binning-turing-die-geforce-rtx-2080-rtx-2070,39250.html This seems like a topic that has been covered a lot by a bunch of different folks: Benchmarks in this video showing the 2080 TI FE also out performing the EVGA 2080 Super FTW3...
