My CPU goes 100% usage when i try to play games

Hey all, I've been having this problem for a while. Whenever i try to play any AAA title ( PUBG, COD, Tomb Raider) my CPU goes on 100% Usage.

My rig is:

MOBO: Asrock H61M-S

CPU: Intel i5-3470

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 3GB

Ram: 2x 8GB 1600

PSU: 400W

SSD: 250 GB

HDD: 500 GB

The main problem is ( i believe ) that my GPU bottlenecks my CPU. I recently found an i7-3820 for 30 Euros used. Will this solve my problem?

not by much, no.

Although, not really sure why this is an issue. do you like to multitask while playing CS?

Please mark as helpful and informative so my profile looks better.

quote or reply to me if you want me to reply to you.

Thanks

Seeing 100% CPU usage is fine, especially with a 4-core 4-thread CPU.

CPU might be bottlenecking the GTX 1060 a bit.

You also will need a DIFFERENT motherboard for the i7-3820.

That CPU uses the LGA 2011 socket (X79 chipset)-- your current motherboard is socket LGA 1155.

ALSO don't get mixed up between LGA 2011, and LGA 2011-v3 ....both different sockets.

Since we're talking about AAA games such a small CPU upgrade will most likely solve nothing. I'd suggest that you buy something newer.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

A i7 3820 is for a different socket so won't work. Your cpu is very much so not enough for modern games. I also don't advice a upgrade to a i7 3770 as those still go for around 80-100€ for some reason and that's not worth it. My suggestion is that you start saving up for a new ryzen system so new ram, cpu and motherboard. Also what psu is that?

1-) Just the opposite, your CPU is bottle-necking your GPU.

2-) Different socket, wont work. You need i7 2600 or 3770 which I also do not suggest.

3-) Time to save up for a new build, otherwise you are looking at new PSU (most likely) new motherboard and new CPU and at that point might as well get a new system all together.

EDIT: just to clarify, you can get 2600 or 3770 and it should work in your system, however you are pretty much stuck on PCIE2.0 and 1155 socket with no overclocking support. I just cant justify upgrading that system as it will leave you with a 3470 that you cannot sell easily.

In that setup, the 1060 is effectively bored, waiting for frames... and the CPU is coughing up lungs trying to draw them.

Keep the 1060 & upgrade the 'board, CPU & RAM...

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!
