4 x 16 sticks of TridentZ won't run at 3200

So I have 4 x 16gb sticks of tridentZ, but they won't run at the advertised 3200mhz.

I have tried enabling XMP/D.O.C.P in bios, no luck. Whenever I try 3200mhz it goes into a boot loop, then when I check it in cpuZ it says its running at ~1061 or 2133. So XMP not working basically

 

Edit: Sorry for not posting system specs its a 2700x, B450-f, and a RX580 strix. Cooler is a x62 and psu is a evga 850G3

What cpu ? 

Update the bios 

Set the soc to 1.1 

Dram to 1.35 

And try 2933 with docp ( if it's zen + ) and 3200 if it's zen 2 

If it boots 

Use memtest86 and OCCT to verify that it's stable

Quad sticks don't offer more bandwidth just potentially more capacity 

And that puts more pressure on the imc and the interconnect so setting the soc to 1.1 should help it a bit

Most B450 boards have 3200MHz marked as OC if that is the case it may not work what is the max speed labeled no OC?

Actually, at the same clock speeds and timings, quad sticks and dual rank sticks offer higher bandwidth than dual sticks or single rank sticks. THis is part of the reason that it is harder on the IMC.

 

Quad dual rank sticks, which this probably is, is a really hard hit on the IMC.

I believe its 2933 for non oc

In that case set them to 2933MHz and see if it works, quad sticks is less likely to work at OC speeds... :I

Assuming they are identical ( so let's say single rank ) 

If we are comparing a kit that comes with 4 sticks 

2 vs 4 from the same exact kit won't provide more bandwidth

Try dropping the frequency to 3000 or 2933MHz. 4 sticks at 3200Mhz on Zen+ really isn't a given.

Also make sure you're running the latest BIOS, and use Memtest86 to check for stability.

Yes it will. Not a huge amount. But it will. The individual sticks/ranks can be accessed semi-independently.

No 

As I said 

Quad = more pressure on the imc and Interconnect 

And since Zen + doesn't have the best imc it might not work 

Try 2933 since anything over that is technically an overclock for zen + and may not work

It's still dual channel. But essentially yes. The capacity and speed you are trying to use is very hard on your CPUs Integrated Memory Controller.

Yes its either the mobo or the Zen+ CPU that cannot handle it. (had same problem on my Athlon X4 880K ad FX-8370 with same 2133MHz RAM kit had to bump it down to 1866MHz how ever if the board aint stupid the latency should also has been decreased like mine was 2133MHz CL9 = 1866MHz CL8 so you aint loosing anyhting!

I was thinking of going to a crosshair 6 instead of my B450-f so if I did that, you think 3200 would run?

Your current motherboard can do 3600 and even above if the cpu allows

No guarantee it could also be the IMC of the CPU with my Ryzen 3600 on ASRock B450M Pro4 3200MHz was labeled OC but it worked and it was 2 reasons why, one I only used 2 sticks and two Zen2 rather than Zen+ since Zen2 support 3200MHz natively. How ever if you really want it to work it might be possible to OC it but its a headache I would rather see if the CL also decreased by 1 if not then maybe try to make 3200MHz work? :I

Was it also 4 sticks? And maybe not all CPUs is equal and like I said you aint loosing anyhting if CL also reduced along side the MHz!
