Building my first PC ever, would like some help.

Hello, I'm building my first computer but I'm confused about some parts. The parts I'm getting are :

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600

Motherboard - MSI B450M PRO-VDH Plus / Tomahawk MAX if it's in stock

GPU - Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB

Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212
PSU - Antec EA650G Pro 650W PLUS GOLD

SSD - Crucial MX500 500GB

HDD - Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB

RAM - 2 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3000 (PC4-24000) C16 PC Memory (CMK8GX4M1D3000C16)

Cabinet - Corsair Carbide CC-9011050-WW

Monitor - LG 22 inch 22MP68VQ

This is the link for PCPartpicker without the CPU cooler since it wasn't in the list - https://in.pcpartpicker.com/user/iguessyes779/saved/#view=r86Gqs

I'm mostly confused about the Motherboard, PSU and cabinet.

Any suggestions and advice are appreciated, thank you!

I mean everything looks fine, no need for the Hyper 212 though stock cooler will suffice. What are your concerns with the motherboard, PSU, and case?

That said with the PSU 650W is more than enough, a bit overkill even. I'd personally look towards a 550W Corsair TXm over the Antec unit. As for the motherboard the Tomahawk Max is for sure the proffered choice.

What is your total budget and location? This info can help us suggest something that may be a bit better or appropriate for your use.

Again, you need to explain in a bit more detail what you plan on using the machine for.

However, a few quick observations:

  1. GPU seems weak
  2. No need for the Hyper 212
  3. Memory timing are not very good on that kit (16-20-20-38)
  4. I would advise you push the budget for a 24" monitor.

GL with your build!

What exactly do you plan to use this build for? That's important to give advice with.

Ah sorry, I plan to use it mainly for gaming and editing.

Thank you!

Mostly if its compatible and if the psu will suffice for the GPU. I'm not really knowledgeable about the compatibility of those parts.

I see, I'll consider this.

My budget is 90,000 Rs and I live in Indore.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, I apologize for the mistake.
I plan to use it for gaming and editing.

What GPU would you recommend in place of this one?

Understood.

I see... What should I do? I'm sorry, this is my first time building a PC and I don't have much faith in myself to pick the parts correctly.

I'm actually already pushing the budget but I'll try.

Thank you so much!

Hey Potatoes4Dinner9443,

No worries, it's a solid build!

Hmm, I may have misused the word weak relative to the pricing and availability of products in your region....apologies.

GPU: The RX580 8GB will do a good job paired with a 1080p 75Hz monitor but it is based of a 2017 design (Polaris) and will probably depreciate so fast it will make your pants fall down. You will be able to run on ultra/high settings, but you'll probably have to take it easy with filtering and other fancy effects.

You could get an EVGA 1660 Super for around ₹23814.00 but the Super only has 6GB of RAM and I have no idea how that affects you editing processes. The 1660S will game at least 25% better and will allow for 1080p ultra with the filters turned up to 11! Plus it consumes around 90 watts less power.

Memory: Grab a set of F4-3000C16D-16GISB, you get better latency and save a few rupees. Bonus: it's been validated on for your motherboard.

Monitor: If you can fit a BenQ Zowie RL2455S in, I think you'll really appreciate it.

These are just my thoughts, please, take them with a grain of salt.

Cheers

Thank you so much for the reply! And no need to apologize.

I've actually managed to push my budget, this is what I'm currently going for.

Case                        -   Corsair Carbide CC-9011050-WW

Motherboard          -     MSI B450 Tomahawk Max AM4 Motherboard
CPU                       -     Ryzen 5 3600

CPU Cooler           -      Considering a liquid cooler, preferably under 5000 Rs.
PSU                       -    Considering options right now.
GPU                       -     Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB
SSD                        -     Western Digital Blue 500GB M.2 Internal SSD (WDS500G2B0B) / Kingston M.2 480 GB
HDD                        -     Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB Internal Hard Drive for Desktop (Blue)
RAM                        -     2 x ADATA 3200 MHz 8 GB DDR4
Monitor                    -     Samsung 24-inch SR35

I'm actually mostly just concerned with the PSU, Case and CPU Cooler since where I live room temperature can get to 40°C sometimes.

I'm confused if the case is good with airflow and such, while the PSU has been a bit hard to find locally. I'm considering a liquid cooler since I've heard they're good for the temperature.

Again, these are just my opinions...

There is an image on the Corsair website showing a 120 mm rad installed in that case with two fans in push/pull. It is a tight fit but to me it indicates that most 120 mm liquid coolers will fit with at least one fan. Corsair has validated the H55, H60, H75 and H80i. There is a great video on YouTube of some beardless guy doing a build in this case, worth checking out IMO.

When I am evaluating a case for a project I like to watch YouTube build videos, read reviews and check for other users on pcpartpicker who have used it themselves. There are over 100 users on pcpartspicker who have used this case in a build.

My advice: consider buying a 3 more 120 mm fans (or some variation of 120/140 mm fans) to increase the overall airflow instead. The stock AMD coolers are pretty good and just adding the fans should be enough.

You should have a PSU around 650W, based on using some PSU calculators on the Internet. Looks like if you had both CPU and GPU on full steam you might hit 525w?

Budget suggestion: SeaSonic S12II 620 W 80+  Not modular (but you have room in that case) and old but it's quiet and reliable.

Mid Range: Corsair TXM Gold 850 W 80+   Semi-modular, Gold certified

High-end: Silverstone Strider Titanium 700 W   Fully modular Titanium certified

PSUs are hard to find in your area man. GL
