Ryzen 4000 Motherboards

I've been doing a bunch of research on the new processors and graphics cards that're projected to be released later this year, because my g/f's hand-me-down PC is in need of an update.  I haven't heard of any X670 motherboards for AMD as of now, but the next generation usually comes out w/new boards.  Has anyone heard of, or knows if they're goin to release a new set of motherboards?  I'm currently looking at the ASUS RoG Crosshair VIII Hero (wi-fi) w/an AMD Ryzen 9 4950X (hopefully they'll be released by then) - I'm only interested in premium parts for gaming, but I'm not sure if the R9 4950X will be released at the opening, since the R9 3950X wasn't released until later.

Any useful info would be greatly appreciated; thanks.

I wouldn't bother with an X series chipset from AMD unless you're really in need of a few extra pcie lanes, B550 will support the 4000 series with flying colors and has some great options in the low and high end. Why bother with a 16 core (presumably) part that you're not likely to use? If you're only going to be gaming and/or streaming, an 8 core cpu will work great for your needs along with a $150-$200 board.

I disagree.

See more problems at this forum with B450 + 3600X users than anything else. Hardly ever see X570 + 3600X with issues. No bios update required.

I'd totally wait for X670 (maybe B650??) and see how the pricing lands. My opinion, much respect to you otherwise.

I'd agree that b450 has some issues with ryzen 3000, I've worked with a couple systems myself and will be building another for my friend here in a couple days, but I've only ever encountered those problems on boards where the manufacturer didn't correctly tune with compatibility issues that could have been easily solved, for instance, both of the MAX boards that I've worked with have been stellar and had 0 issues, meanwhile asrock has been negligent in their BIOS implementations, leading to issues with pre 1903 windows versions. B550 seems to be moving away from these issues though, and manufacturers only have to deal with implementing a BIOS for 1 type of architecture compared to trying to support 2 fairly different architectures on one chipset.
