would an i5 - 4570K + Nvidia Zotac RTX 2060 6gb cause major Bottleneck or dmange to my system in any way?

Hey guys/girls,

really need some help.

I have a Genuine Intel desktop board DH87RL ,intel core i5 - 4670K processor @3.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, CoolerMaster 500watt SMPS, 2TB Segate Barracuda HDD and a Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD

My old Graphic card which as an ASUS HD7770 2gb failed and i plan on upgrading to an Nvidia Zotac RTX 2060 6gb Graphic cars with the same PC specs as mentioned above with the Plans of upgrading to a higher specs system in the future (maybe 3 years)

For now i wanted to use the same system with the RTX 2060 6gb graphic card but i have a few worries.

1) How badly will my System Bottleneck?

2) Can bottleneck cause damage to my system or to the graphic card over a period of 3 years?

Damage?  What could be damaged and how, in your estimation?

No bottleneck worth noting, decent matchup for 1080p gaming.

%100 sure there will be CPU bottleneck, especially noticeable at stock speeds.

EDIT: I should clarify that my 3570K running at 4.8ghz is getting capped in almost every game I play even with a GTX970.

Thanks Dedayog for the quick reply.. Really appreciate it..

i was thinking maybe damage to my processor or the motherboard burning out in general? or damage to my graphic card itself due to not enough power.. im not sure hence i was asking..

Case the RTX 2060 is a pretty powerful graphic card and my system is quite old.. 7 years and counting..

so before i purchased the graphic card i just wanted to know if my system would actually support It and if it does are there any problems that i would face

also am planning on shifting to a 4K TV soon also..

Hey levent...

so you saying that I shouldn’t get the RTX 2060 due to performance issues that will arise?

Nope. I am saying that you will be leaving some performance on the table due to having a weak performing CPU. Bottlenecks are inevitable and you really shouldn't worry about it that much.

So with my current system specs I can go for it?

Yea just don’t expect the best. Cpu will be holding the card back but as long as it doesn’t cause any issues while gaming you should be fine.

it might indeed be smarter to wait. get a cheap gpu. wait for ampere :) it will drop the prices of current gpus and or may give you an optional better gpu to buy at the same amount you would spend now.

how about going for cheaper gpus if youre not planning to upgrade your cpu like 1660 super

Well I want to upgrade my cpu in a few years but then I don’t want to have to buy another graphic card as well... so hence I want to buy a more powerful one now so I can reuse it when I build my new PC..

Also makes sense... I’ll have to think of what and how I want to take my next step...

cause by all the videos I’ve seen online of benchmarks and all, it’s a pretty decent gameplay offered by an RTX 2060 paired with i5 - 4670k 3.4GHz

Makes sense. Go for the 2060. :)

EDIT : I just noticed your computer only has 8GB of RAM. That'll be a greater bottleneck than the CPU(IIRC, I couldn't get Forza Horizon 3 to load on my earlier i5-3450 build when one of my 8 gig modules wasn't working, but it played butter smooth and at nearly 60fps when I had 16GB)

Desktop 2 : i5 10400 | 32GB DDR4-3200(@ 2667Mhz) |  EVGA GTX 1070 SC 8 GB | Corsair CV450M

Laptop : ASUS ROG Strix G17 : i7-10750H, 16GB RAM, GTX 1660Ti 6GB(90W), 1TB NVMe SSD

of course its pretty good at 1080p. or even 1440p later.
but i would wait. seeing how the 3060 supposedly rumoured to be around the normal perf of between 2070-2070 super. and rtx wise around a 2080ti sooo you should wait.

still i recommend cheaper gpu when you upgrade your cpu in few years gpu prices will be down also you have to buy new mb with your cpu anyway.

reason why im recommending these i used to work at internet cafe a4tnd they upgraded from i5 h gen non unlocked 1060 6gb to 2060 straight away what i noticed was cpu was strugling hard on games like pubg apex in the end they had to upgrade to i5-9th gen to match the gpu.

Makes sense... I think I’ll do so...

but I just wanted to know.... will a 500W SMPS be enough for the current specs With RTX 2060 6gb?
