Can i use my old gtx 1070ti with my new rtx 2080 super?

So half a year ago I upgraded to an rtx 2080 super because I got a 3440x1440 screen, but I want to use my two other 1080p screens as well but as you probably imagine this causes some problems, so I wonder can I use my old 1070ti for side monitors and the 2080 super for the main screen in the same system. Is this a good idea or just stupid?

well you can if your psu is good enough but its not that good idea, since your two monitors use less than 2% of your rtx 2080 super, meaning that putting 1070ti in wont change a thing other than it gets hotter and uses more power

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

I've never had any issues with my two additional screens next to my main panel. In my experience, there is no less in performance or ease of use when just utilizing my main videocard for all my screens.

What reason do you have for wanting to use a second videocard for secondary monitor?

 

Because in my opinion, you do not need to use the 1070 Ti in your system for additional monitors. Just plug them all into your main card.

The 1070 Ti and 2080 Super can't SLI together either, so they would not work together. Plus you would need a sufficiently powerful PSU to run both. Also, the two videocards would probably be very much near each other, which would make the thermals worse for both cards.

 

In conclusion, I would just connect both screens to your 2080 Super. The 1070 Ti you can sell, give away or use in another system; no need to use it in this system.

Not in sli obviously

But yes even tho an extra money barely uses any GPU resources

Just sell the 1070ti, 2080 is plenty powerful. You can use the money for another upgrade... Like a big SATA SSD for your game library.

My heart belongs to AMD but that doesn't mean I furiously hate Intel or NVIDIA :)
