Transfer everything from an old computer to a new one without hassle?

UsernamePassword

Hi!

I bought my parents a new computer as their old one is quite old.

The old computer has tons of special software, photos etc that needs to be transferred to the new one including shortcuts etc.

Is there any application that will just make a full copy of the old computer then I can restore it in the new one?

So for my parents it's an exact 1:1 clone so they don't need to redo shortcuts etc (They aren't "tech savy" so they want to keep everything exactly how it is).

Is there any tool for this 1:1 backup & restore?

Unplug the harddrive, then plug it into the new one.

They will use a new HDD as the old one is getting quite bad (15+ years)

As for photos and video files, just copy them onto a new drive, or transfer via google drive or external drive.

For softwares, try and find the licences and redownload them.

Just clone the disk if you can. There's a lot of disk cloning software out there that is free but research it in more detail. If you have x gb of space used, the target disk will need to be the same amount of gb free or larger.

Make the 1:1 clone of your drive using Clonezilla, Acronis True Image, or Macrium Reflect. Personally I used to go with Clonezilla for such tasks. https://clonezilla.org/show-live-doc-content.php?topic=clonezilla-live/doc/03_Disk_to_disk_clone

To make a backup of a drive and restore it to another one, use Veeam Agent for Windows. It features OS backup and restore jobs. https://www.veeam.com/windows-cloud-server-backup-agent.html
