Hello

I am looking for help piecing together a build for a 10700k.

I want to overclock the cpu, which motherboard should i look at? i was looking at an ASUS ROG STRIX-f

Which AIO are seen as the best atm?

Which speed ram should i look at 3200? am i right in thinking all DDR4 dual channel will be fine?

I know AMD is better price and more cores/threads, but i simple don't do anything other than game and i am highly sensitive to frame stutters/drops ect.

You could get a better graphics card which will mean a bigger difference than a 10700k vs a 3700x. Also whats your budget?

You should get the i5 10600K, It OC's really well and is perfect for an all gaming PC watch the GN reviews on it:

I myself am looking at the i5.

A dual channel 2x8GB 3200MHz CL16 will be perfect. That motherboard is a good pick. And the better AIO's on the market with regards to thermal performance are the Corsair, EVGA, and NZXT coolers.

Their is no budget, i dont need ssd's or m.2 and case is optional as i could use my current one. I just confused to which motherboard i should be looking at, i don't need wifi and i could use with good USB ports for CV1 RIFT.  I do want to overclock and i will need a new AIO as my current one is very old.

Ok any overclocking features you want?. Post code, safe boot jumper, and etc?

Thats where i get confused, I am a novice. from what i remember oc'ing my current build i followed a guide changed some settings then multiplayers and the volts, repeated until stable. Post code was very helpful for me as i do remember having an issue and a simple google of the numbers helped resolve it, I did try some other overclocking, but i never used them full time.

But yea as i am trying to explain i am new and will be following what ever advice i find on internet, so which ever board is going to do the job.

Well reviews for most z490 motherboards aren't out yet. But a motherboard that I know is good and has a review on it is the z490 unify. There are probably cheaper boards that could get the job down but they don't have reviews yet. BTW safe boot is this cool feature that allows you to boot when you messed up your overclock settings without having to clear cmos.

So a duel fan aio will be enough to cool? What ram would you recommend or should i just shop for price?

Also i was looking at a new case, my old NZXT h440 has room to put the AIO as a top exhaust, but it seems there new cases want you to front mount. Is this perf'd now? do you know a good case no power supply that is very clean looking?

I'll just note that you're wasting about 300$ by going for a 10700K instead of a 10600K and a Dark Rock 4 on a normally priced board

Yes a 280mm aio should get you over 5ghz for a 10700k. The ram just go with the cheapest 3200/3600 kit unless you like ram over clocking then this is the best kit https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vVVD4D/patriot-viper-steel-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-4400-memory-pvs416g440c9k. Im pretty sure you can put a a 280mm in the front of your case. No need to change case.

thanks for the help, so you defo recommend that motherboard over the strix? https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z490-F-GAMING/ This is the one that is used in pre-builds i seen on scan.co.uk and it seems to be selling out most places.

Where was it I read for future proofing you need 8 cores.

My i7 8086ks performs about the sames as i510600k in games. So 2018 performance. Even a i7 10700k is not an upgrade now but it may be in the future.

I know that I am done buying 6 core CPUs but I would not mind buying an 8 core.

Was looking at prices of the AIO its not much more for the NZXT Kraken X73 360mm in the uk, would this provide better cooling? my case takes 3 fans on the front so it should fit.

Well I don't see an ssd bundled with the link and the ssd doesn't come free. They bundle it sometimes because they can.
