What songs/playlist do you use for testing and why

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

This works quite well to actually evaluate the response:

Obviously... unless you use a microphone this will include your ear's response :D

This was out of courosity of what song people use to test audio setups / headphones and why

personal I have 3 total one on soundclould one on spotify and one on my mp3 player

here is my soundclould one

my spotify one https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7efapSl5ata24uR3NaOJWU?si=fWJmNZJ6QIKk8FayV9Mqnw

  1. Takillya, great song starting song that I use if I need to do a audio test fast and I memorized it fully.
  2. Supernova, I know that it's the LTT intro but it's a great one to test EDM's on.
  3. Sugar high, I know another LTT song but that drop at 0.30 after that that synth is great for testing.
  4. Adrenaline, great for testing vocals and also memorized probably because I played 387 times on osu. (I know it's eromanga sensei ed but I love the song and hate the anime did about three ep's)
  5. Crossing field, Great song by lisa and because lisa is life.
  6. Renai circulation, hanazwa kana's vocal's are awesome.
  7. Choose me, first I want to thank @Eschew@xAcid9for recommending band maid. This song is great for testing rock music.
  8. Age age Again, first volcaoid song and Mitchie M did a great job tuning vocals.
  9. 套路 Feat. Jony J, great rap song just for testing fast vocals.
  10. Gas Gas Gas, I like to test eurobeat because of synth mixed with guitar.
  11. running in the 90's, just another great eurobeat song.
  12. bboom bboom x baam, great mixing of the two song's and great for testing KPOP.
  13. BAAM, I don't really listen to KPOP but this song I really like.
  14. [Giorno's Theme Remix!], great song for to just get my face smiling if my face dosent that means something is wrong.
  15. In unison, A instumental I test and I usually will have a intrumental of this anime.  (also side note this was my first anime and I usually will have a intrumental of this anime)
  16.  cheat codes, that bass kick at first is great for test bass.
  17. Mai Mai Mai, I actually don't remember why I put that int that playlist. (Maybe another volcaoid song to test?)
  18. Russian national anthem, Memes aside it's a great song for testing choir vocals.
  19. Nash grimn, just for test Russian hard bass.
  20. Bbboom Bboom 8d, just a random 8d song for test surround sound.
  21. Brass. Great for testing repeated drops.
  22. tomadoi recipe, that voice is great.
  23. Angel with a shotgun, Nightcore is great for test high pitched vocals and this is the only nightcore song I test (I stopped listening to nightcore after realizing how bad it was)

I always find myself moving towards a huge variety of stuff.

Jupiter by Holst, Bring me Some Water by Melissa Etheridge and Humble (Skrillex Remix) by Kendrick Lamar

Covers pretty much every possible listening case for me😆

Four most important ones for me,

Hotel California, The Eagles

12 string guitar can be made or broken by overly 'smileyfaced' sound systems, weeds out any system trying to cheat by cutting mids. It's a well mixed track, everything has to be crisp, can hear any distortion.

Time, Pink Floyd

Intro has crazy stereo mixing, if a system doesn't have good stereo imaging you'll hear it straight away

Everchanging, Haywyre

Very busy mix, on low end systems the string riffs are almost completely drowned out by synths in the same sonic area, the instrument separation you get on nice systems is really apparent in this one.

Sweat, Karma Fields

To test bass, that's it, if a system can handle this at a decent volume it's got more than enough bass for my day to day needs, if you want to really torture test a system you might use Bassotronics Bass I Love You instead but it's generally not a high quality mix and used only for torturing subwoofers.

I've got a DSF/SACD version of Hotel California and it's incredibly crisp and clear indeed.

Nice indeed!

I'm again impressed by my G935s, bought them as a gaming/call headset but they happen to be the best I have for music as well (with LT EQ, compared to Bose QC35 and Sony WF-X1000M3)

I've got a lossless version of Hotel California I use and I think I've got an LP of it kicking around somewhere, will have to try and find it in my collection. Both are great and surprisingly the YouTube version isn't too shabby either.

Yes, you're right, it's from Bassotronics not Bassnectar but if I ever need to find out whether a subwoofer can hit 20hz (or infrasonic) that's what I'm playing

Will have to try Bass Head on that recommendation, generally not a massive fan of exaggerated bass but I'll check it out.

My favorites are:

Madonna - Die Another Day

The beginning is nice to check the balance between high frequencys and the lows. And whether it is on point. It easily sounds dull and mushy.

John Miles - Music.

High dynamic range and different styles of music.
