It will support 4 monitors, however use 1080p monitors as running 4 4k will most likely be pretty slow.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I have a gtx 1060 3 gig and it has 4 outputs. I was looking to buy some monitors for a 4 monitor setup but im not sure how many displays the 1060 can take

im guessing it has 3 display ports and 1 hdmi and assuming 1080p 60hz monitors that have a bandwidth usage of 4.46 gbps then you can have 25 monitors im not sure if splitters or daisy chaining affects the bandwidth needed

A quick google search says the 1060 can handle five displays: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&q=gtx+1060+max+displays

(3 displayport, 1 hdmi, and 1 dvi)

Nvidia consumer GPUs are limited to MAX 4 display outputs regardless of the number of connectors on the card or how many splitters you use.

It is a firmware limitation that cannot be removed.

For more than 4 dispalys you need to use an NVS card or have multiple GPUs.

For multiple GPUs they need to run in non-SLI and also are limited to 4 outputs per card.
