Hello good people.

Here is my issue. I currently run a MSI GTX670 (MSI N670GTX-PM2D2GD5/OC) and I'm looking to upgrade to get better performance. I have an oppotunity to get an additional 670 card from eVGA at a good price or upgrade the card all together. According to benchmarks around the web it seems that the 670 in SLI performs rather well. But is it worth the investment or should I go with a 770/780 instead which would be double the investment and render my old card obselete.

So add another 670 or upgrade?

Also would the eVGA and MSI card gimp one another or would they run fine in tandem?

Thank you for your time

I always recommend going with the best single GPU you can afford rather than playing around with SLI. This still goes even if you have a card, and would just be adding. I'd sell the 670, and buy a better single card, rather than play around with SLI.

If you play on 1080p and have no plans on upgrading to a higher res, get another 670 if your PSU can handle it as it will be cheaper and give you higher FPS in games that support SLI.

I added another 670 for SLI back in november so I might have an idea about SLI performance in games. Overal I gain about 45% in fps on AAA titles. But one setback is the memory where newer games might need more than 2 GB.

SLI so far has given me no problem. I just plugged in the card and the bridge and off I go.

I also have that particular card, MSI GTX 670 ref OC SLI with ASUS gtx 670 DCU2. Both cards ran great.

I generally say, that you should go with the more powerful single-GPU solution to avoid stuttering and compability-problems with games.

So sell the old card and get a new one, is what i'd recommend :)

I don't think that 670s are worth the price they're at. You're better off selling your 670 used and buying a 770/maybe 780, if the price difference isn't as important to you. It also wouldn't be terribly hard to get $200+ for it I think, and that makes the 770 look like an even easier choice, let alone a 780.

Well how much is the 670? Two 670s will take on and beat a 780 Ti as they are no slouch.

I was in the EXACT same boat with a GTX670.

What won the argument for me is you cant beat single card performance. I sold my GTX670 for $340 and bought a 780Ti :)

SLI has come a long way, there are not alot if problems with SLI anymore. I would go SLI 670 or just wait untill there is a card released that beats the 780TI at around the same price or lower.

Upgrading from a 670 to a 780 TI for 1920x1080 gaming isn't worth the performance increase in my opinion.

This is what I have setup. Cant wait to go SLI 880's or 870's!
