Graphics card dilemma

Hello ,

I want to upgrade from a 950 sc into a 1650 super (the msi ventus xc oc) but I’m wondering if it’s going to be noisy and hot , because of its small form factor. I’m also considering buying an rx 580 because of the extra vram (the price is the same as the 1650s) . What should I do? Thanks in advance

There's not a ton of reviews on the MSI Ventus 1650s, but the Gaming X is one of the coolest and quietest 1650 Supers. If you can get that, go for it. The Gigabyte OC (dual-fan) 1650s is also pretty well-cooled (and cheaper, at least in the US), it's just somewhat loud with the stock fan profile which you can change using Afterburner.

 

The 580 8gb is also a decent option but at this point its like 4 years old

The thing is , the prices are different in EU and the gaming x one costs more than I would like to pay . I mentioned the rx 580 because it doesn’t perform worse than the 1650s and the extra 4gb of vram might come in handy in the future. With that in mind should I still go for the 1650s ?

What troubles me the most is vram tbh

I would go for the 1650s. I am still rocking a 580 in a large case with really good airflow and thing still kicks up a lot of noise and heat with a custom fan curve. The age of the card  goes against it.

go for rx 580. the extra vram will come handy.

And if you had to choose between evga or gigabyte (both dual fan 1650s cards) which would you choose?

At the same price, probably EVGA, Gigabyte's is a bit loud. If the difference is more than the equivalent of ~$10 go for the Gigabyte and change the fan curve.

 

I'm in the same situation too, about to buy a 1650 Super just waiting for them to be in stock

Nice man. I just found out that the 5500 xt 8 gb might be a better option .In my country the pricing is the same . Everyone is talking about amd’s performance being better optimized in the future due to console gaming. In some cases the 5500 xt is even faster than the 1660 and they are saying that it will be almost as fast as the 1660 ti. Any thoughts on the 5500 xt?

It's a great raw performer. Likely a better value than the 1650S at the same price, with the extra VRAM and also since AMD cards tend to improve more over time. 

 

I just wanted to stay away personally because of the driver issues and I also really like some of the extra Nvidia features like GameStream and Shadowplay.
