Monitor & GPU Upgrade Suggestions

TLDR; Looking to upgrade my current system. Monitor with good colour accuracy, 1440p, 144hz & 27inch+ as well as a new GPU so I can run games @1440p & Improve 3D performance.

 

I'm starting to delve into the world of 3D to assist in pre-vis for my personal project and am lacking a bit of power, I assume from the GPU. I'm working with the 2D/3D programs listed below. One of my main hobbies is gaming so I'd like to be able to run modern games well at 1440p. As for minitors, I'm admittedly not very knowledgable on Display technology, but I know that the monitor I have, although fine for gaming has really bad colours. Paintings/designs I make look completely different on my laptop & phone. Ideally, a nice balance of performance for gaming & colour accuracy for my creative work.

are you sure the bottleneck is on the gpu side?

your cpu isnt and shouldn't be considered high end so i'd check the cpu and gpu usage and go from there

your cpu is mediocre at the best. but its probably your gpu that is causing bottleneck.

Tier lists for building a PC.

 

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

No I'm no sure, I just assumed as the video card was a compromise already when I built the system. Will check usage next time I'm working.

Don't worry, the i7 6700 is quite powerful enough not to bottleneck a low end card like the GTX 970.

It might bottleneck the new card, even on 1440p, but not by a lot and it would be a nice initiative for you to upgrade the motherboard, CPU and RAM in a year or two.
