Weird (probably GPU) issue - input would be appreciated

Nakazen

Hi Guys,

I am stumped with this issue I am having.

The issue:

Randomly during heavy and lights usage both screens will turn white and stay white.

Audio stutters for a few seconds, but continues to work. When I mash the keyboard I hear the invalid input sound etc.

Reboot my pc and everything is working again. This can happen multiple times per hour or I can go whole evenings without any issue.

Sometimes it happens when I am gaming, sometimes it happens when watching a Youtube clip, sometimes it happens when I have just logged in into Windows.

Troubleshooting I have done:

- Stresstests (Aida, Fuzzy  donut, Heaven, Superposition) Outcome: Random crashes in almost all tests. Sometimes a test runs fine for hours, sometimes the same test crashes multiple times per evening.

- Tried multiple different drivers - from 390 series till the latest version. All drivers have the same issues

- Replaced motherboard - I had another compatible motherboard laying around and tried swapping it. Issues continue.

- No eventlog errors regarding the issue, only that I hard restarted my PC.

- Tried it with only one screen connected - same issue

Anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Hardware:

i7 6700k

Asus z170m-plus

16GB Hyperx Savage 2666mhz (2x 8GB)

Antec 550W PSU

Inno3D GTX 1080 Herculez

Regards,

Naka

If @Sauron’s suggestion fails subtle memory errors seem possible.  I’m liking his better than mine.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
