I was wondering if I could install an AMD GPU along with an Nvidia GPU. Well I installed them and all, but I didn't want to install them for performance. You see, I just wanted to install the Nvidia GPU because I wanted to use the Nvidia overlay instead of the AMD overlay. Problem is, if I plug the display port into one GPU my system would use that GPU as the main GPU and I don't want that. I want it so that games and other applications would use the AMD GPU and the Nvidia GPU for the overlay only.
System related components:
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X
Monitor: MSI MAG241C
GPU: Gigabyte AORUS RX 5700XT and a GALAX GTX 1050TI
Motherboard: ASUS B450M TUF Gaming-Plus

I am very confused.

How do you think that's suppose to work? The Nvidia driver can't monitor the AMD card because it does not know how to communicate with it because it's not an AMD driver. It's, a Nvidia one, for, Nvidia cards...

Tbh if you want an overlay for I assume performance, get MSI afterburner, comes with Rivatuner and allows you to monitor a LOT of stuff. And it doesn't care what card you have.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Not only that, the Nvidia card would also have to render an image and then send that back to the AMD card that is attached to the monitor, who would have to combine both images before sending them to the screen.

It was just an experiment. I know it's not supposed to work, but I just wanted to test this theory. Could it work if I had a CPU with integrated graphics though?

No, because you can't use one companys custom built firmware in a different product.
