How to factory reset a macbook?

I am selling my macbook. when i sold my last one, it was to a friend, so i didnt really care about data security or anything. this time i do and i have no idea how to factory reset/erase it. its not easy like windows. any ideas? im like one or 2 updates behind the latest version of osx catalina.

You have to do a full wipe and reinstall the OS

also, command+option+r is maybe better, since that'll give you there latest version of macOS that the Mac supports.
