I need to buy a windows 10 home product key. i have the deactived version and its annoying not being able to personalize. Is buying off of ebay legit or any other sites?

If you buy of a third party you risk the key not working but some Windows keys work multiple times, and they are like $20 on third party and often it works

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

Ebay is most likely not legit. Grey market is a gamble. Play at your own risk.

I only recommend two avenues;

1) Amazon or Microsoft website.

2) or through the activation link to purchase a key.

I think that Linus bought windows 10 from here for a video https://www.kinguin.net/category/22175/windows-10-home-oem-key for 30 dollars and it worked?

If you buy on ebay, check how many keys they've sold and the feedbacks on them.

Other than that, if it doesn't work... Well Paypal is there to save you and really, it's like 5$ so you're not losing much in the end.

If you have a Windows 7 or Windows 8 key, try activate Windows 10 with it first. It might work. I sure was able to activate Win10 with a Win8 Pro key last year, even though the "free upgrade" period passed a looong time ago and I never used that key to upgrade before either.

Can you link to video? For my knowledge, Linus has never had any association with these marketplace sites. In this video:

He specifically says that they own several copies of Enterprise version of Win10 Pro. That would mean that they have bought them directly from Microsoft.

You might refer to PaulsHardware or some other youtuber with less high standards when it comes to software licensing.

Do you have an old laptop lying around which came with windows 10 home?

If you do, you can use RW-Everything to extract your windows 10 key from the BIOS

Or boot linux from USB and use the command: "sudo strings /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM"

Basically, any windows 8 onwards pc should have a key in bios if it came with windows
