Can anyone tell me why HW monitor is getting detected in vitus-total?

Go to solution Solved by Nayr438,

It was detected as grayware, or potentially unwanted software that may or may not pose a risk.

It probably either had a signature match in the dump to another piece of unwanted software or is being flagged for polling system information.

Signature matches causing false positives isn't uncommon, and probably why it was labeled as unknown verdict.

HW Monitor itself should however be fine.

It's likely that HWM has to be a little trickster to get all the hardware data that it does while providing the features that it provides. Some anti-malware detectors might flag some of that trickery as potentially dangerous.

If you know for sure that the detected thing is HWM then you're as safe as HWM is.

ENCRYPTION IS NOT A CRIME
