Best CPU for World of Warcraft

I recently installed a 2080ti graphics card on my desktop and ran WoW. The frame rates are still struggling when in the open world or in a raid. So now I am wondering what kind of cpu can effectively run wow at high refresh rates.

WoW is an old game that is not properly optimized to use multiple core cpus even with an update in the latest expansion that was supposed to fix it. Most of the time wow is maxing out a single core. So I am wondering what kind of CPU would run wow well (144 refresh rate in ultra) in 2020.

48GB of RAM... Holy mother of God, why.

CPU should be more than good enough to play WoW so you might have other issues. Possibly driver related? Easiest way to find out is just doing a clean install of Windows and only installing GPU drivers since Windows 10 will install everything else by itself, usually.

If you absolutely want a CPU recommendation, look into AMD Ryzen 3700x.

But changing the CPU means you'll need a new motherboard and possibly new RAM as well if that board in DDR3. (The CPU technically also support DDR4 so I don't know which you have exactly). Not to mention, maybe even a new PSU and case depending on how proprietary they've made it.

Or wait a few months for the 4000 series before taking the plunge on what is basically a new system.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

i guesss most likely its just that wow is badly optimized. if you're running a 2080Ti and still getting bad frames, might be a CPU prblem? how many frames do you get?

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

writing this as i finish a 3 hour D2 sesh so excuse anything wrong.

If you want to upgrade you'll need to change your motherboard and CPU. You could upgrade the 3rd gen Ryzen or wait a little bit for 4th gen Ryzen.

That is what I am thinking also. I am just not sure if there is a motherboard optimized for mmos.

Heres a comparison - my Ryzen Rig 2 in sig, gets the exact same FPS as my buddy in open world raids/instanced raids as I do during intensive fights - he has a 9900k OCd and a 2080ti KINGPIN.

The frame time required is also tied to network due to this being an online game.  At some point, that's just the bottleneck.

No there's no such thing has a "MMO optimized" motherboard.

There is no such thing as optimized motherboards for MMOs. therefore i'm going to suggest that you start researching computers and hardware before you think about purchasing anything to understand how everything works otherwise you're bound to buy the wrong thing
