So at the moment I have an a320m s2h with a Ryzen 5 2600 and a rx 5700xt,  with 16gb ddr4 2666. I am saving up and nearly ready to upgrade my cpu and motherboard. I had in mind a ryzen 7 3700x (as 3800x doesn’t seem to be worth it) and I want to upgrade the motherboard. Should I go for an x570 for the pcie 4 support for my graphics card or should I get a b450. Keep in mind that I may upgrade my memory to 4x8gb ddr4 at a higher clock speed since it’s a 3rd gen ryzen. Thanks guys

If you have the money, go for X570 mobo.

Well, I don't really recommend b450 for Ryzen 3000 series (more so with Ryzen 7 3700X and above) because the mobo VRM may not able to supply enough power for the CPU, if you are overclocking it.

In any case, I should have ask you what is your motherboard of choice. Different motherboard from different manufacturer and model provides different features and different VRM capability.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

this really depends on the b450 board.

some cheap b450 might not be the best pairing but many should be sufficient enough for it.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I second that. For instance the MSI B450 Tomahawk can handle an OC Ryzen 9 no problem.

Quite true. That's why I am requesting for more info on the motherboard the OP (Original Poster) wanted to use.

But in any case, I believe that with that powerful processor, pairing with B450 is a waste, as you lose the PCIe 4.0 capability, and the chipset only provides PCIe 2.0. Not a big deal, but still.

I want any motherboard which people suggest tbh, gigabyte, ASUs, whatever.

i wouldn’t mind not having pcie4 but at least pcie 3

NO, IIRC all b450 boards are pcie 3.0, think that might have been a typo by the dude above.

Someone commented about 4th gen ryzen should I think about that, is that near future?

Well, if you can afford to wait, I highly suggest you to wait. At that time, who knows if the price of the CPU and previous gen Mobo will drop slightly?

I see. Very well, then. There are many good b450 mobo out there, the one that @IAmAndre suggest is a popular b450 mobo.

If it’s more than a month then I can’t wait because I’m too excited about new components if that makes sense. If it’s the choice then a tomahawk looks good to me @Chiyawa

Ok so would you say for the extra £100 it’s worth getting x570 for pcie 4 or should I just get myself another pair of 3200 2x8gb memory?

If you don't really need PCIe 4.0, you can get the RAM instead.
