Bad picture, can't say. Don't use camera-flash and try to avoid light from reflecting like that. Take the picture somewhere with lots of ambient light instead.

As long as it's just the socket's plastic cover it's fine, you'd have to worry if the little copper fingers inside got cross-connected or even damaged somehow.

Only issue the top itself could cause is with the pins while placing the chip in the socket, but as long as it drops in easily, it should be fine.

ill take a better picture. I had a bad chip that i tried to put in today to test it but there was no retention when pulling the arm down and it was placed in correctly. I think that was the chip because its a bad chip. The guy I bought from sold me the cpu and motherboard. I am just hoping i didnt lose $250 on two pieces of equipment.

This pic looks like there may be still pins in the holes... so yeah definitely a better picture.

The chip I inserted is broken but it fit into the socket but there was no tension when pulling the latch down. I think it may work with a new one but i am not sure. The user who sold it to me was banned and now he wont reply. This is my first time installing the cpu. This is making me not want to buy used equipment for ANYTHING.
