It's usually better just to get a higher end, single card. Not many games support SLI.

Technically yes they will perform better. However sli and crossfire are as good as dead these days. There are very few games that support it and of those only some will work correctly and/or give you a 30% or higher performance increase.

 

It is always best to get a single better card than 2 weaker cards.
