GTX 1650 Super with Core i3-2100

Miham

Hi Linus,

Can I use Galax GTX 1650 super with Intel core i3-2100 for gaming purpose?

Will it bottleneck?

Thanks and Regards

Miham

Can? Yes.

Will it bottleneck? Depends on the game, but I think a lot of games will struggle.

What videocard - if any - are you using now?

You would still see an improvement in fps, but don't except all the performance out of the cooler that other reviewers and such might get.

What I mean is that in many games the i3 will hold back the videocard and in some games (CPU heavy games) it will hold back the videocard a lot.

Consider upgrading the CPU, maybe a second hand i7 (like a 2600(K) and 3770(K)) would work for you.

In my country the CPU you just mentioned are not available. So which CPU can I use with GTX 1650 Super to avoid any kind of bottlenecking?

This will mean a massive improvement in gaming, the GT710 can't even compete with, for example, the Ryzen 2200g igp, while on the other hand the gtx 1650s is quite a recent mid-level gaming card, more or less on par with the rx580.

Vast improvement. Hence, even an old gtx 750Ti or HD 7790 does blow the gt710 into oblivion.

Of course, your cpu will then become the weakest link in your system but do you think it will be necessary to upgrade it as well? It's a dual-core with hyperthreading at 3.1ghz stock, plus turbo. What board do you have?
