The 1600 AF is a Zen+ based CPU, as opposed to the 1600 (non AF) which is Zen based.

Basically that means the 1600 AF rivals the second gen Ryzen 5 2600 and is altogether a better choice than the 1600 (non AF).

Ryzen 1600AF is a second gen Ryzen 2600 rebadged as a 1600.

1600AF is like a 2600 running at 1600 clock speeds. Likely a failed binning chip that's no good for the 2600 name, or a way to lower pricing further to battle the 9400F

How do u know if you will get a af or not tho ?

Unless you get it new from a listing that specifically labels it as such, or from a seller that knows what he has you don't.

 

There don't seem to be many of these around. Some have said it was at a time where they had deprecated the old process but still had demand for the chip so they made one by derating a 2600...

Price went up over the weekend from $85 to $100 and Amazon is out of both the 1600AF and the 2600. AF due march 5 and I think they said march 3 for the 2600. Price on Newegg also went up but they seem to still have them as I was able to get one. They do list the part number on the page. Wonder if AMD will have to start selling some rebranded 3600's as 2600 with 2600's going to meet demand for 1600.
