So im going to buy a 3950x and a 2080 RTX super, the one by gigabyte, gaming 8GB OC one.

I was wondering... apparently the 3080 RTX comes in june.. not that far

Should I just wait? it's like 800€ for the 2080 super:

https://www.pccomponentes.com/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2080-super-gaming-oc-8gb-gddr6

So, what can one expect from 3080 RTX vs that one? in terms of performance and price?

I will not go 3080 RTX ti, just regular 3080 RTX.. so how do you think will do vs the 2080 rtx super?

I have a HD 7850.. i can cope with this card until june if its worth the wait.

PS: unless the ti version has insane performance boost, then I MAY consider spending over 1000€ on a freaking card....

i think the 3080 will have to beat the 2080ti, being at the price of the 2080 super.

but don't take my word for it. also, it might not hit the shelves so early

any news when it will be released? ive heard its june

Nvidia Ampere (30x0 series) has not even been announced.. my bet is  presentation at the GTC in March, so commercialization could be between june and semptember.

if they switch to a 7 mm design there should be a major increase in efficiency , so a better bang for the buck. I'd say it's worth the wait.

Question that was replied quite few times already I believe..  All depends on individual basis. Do you own a GPU now? Can you wait for ~~ 6-7 months? In general, yes new will be better, but that depends on price/performance etc... At the moment, not much is known. If I did not need a GPU right now, I would wait, if I would need, 2080 is at the moment one of the top range GPUs :)

gtc is a month away, presentation there most likely

They'll present their new Tesla card there. Probably won't say shit about gaming cards, and for all we know Ampere could be an HPC only architecture like Volta was.

I'm waiting for Ampre myself. I want to see how it performs compared to my 1080 Ti.  The 20-30% bump in performance from the 2080 Ti was quite lackluster and not worth it.

honestly i wouldn't buy any rtx card new atm, the 2080 ti used market is quite robust depending on where you live.

Though the release date of the 3000 series might be delayed due to the corona outbreak.

Still i'd wait.

I would say wait if you really want ray tracing, but even if you got a slightly older card on the used market or something mid range to hold you over, it would be a huge huge jump from your 7850 (even a GTX 970 would be more than twice as good).

If the rest of your rig is comparable to a 7850 you may want to wait and upgrade everything at once.

i cant wait because i use sony vegas and its so damn slow on my 10 year old quadcore, but GPU is not that used outside of gaming

even with the huge bottleneck i should be good with the 3950x, i will wait, should be out for september i guess
