Roughly 1.25x the diagonal width of the screen at 16:9.

 

So 34" 21:9 screen would be roughly 34" viewing distance as a 34" 21:9 screen is a wider 27" 16:9 screen.

 

its not an exact number ..but its a good rule of thumb to work from. adjust to ur preference.

If its curved you can sit a little closer, I keep mine about 2ft from me.

The view distance should be measured from screen surface to eyes.

a flat one - whichever distance is comfortable

a curved one - theortetically at the "focus point" of the curve.

 

this is all honestly personal preference, in the end whatever is said in this thread, if you scoot the display an inch closer and it feels better, then that is the better answer.
