Extra Pins on old hdds?

So I've been parting out some
old pre-builts (from around the
windows 8.1 days) and I pulled these
1tb and 500gig hdd from two of them.
I was wondering if anyone could
tell me what these extra 2 and 4 pin
connectors are for (4 pin is on a 500gig
Seagate barracuda, and 2 pin is on a
1tb TOSHIBA 7200rpm) any input would be appreciated. >U<

These are master and slave jumper pins, for legacy support.

After reading the title that was also my first thought, but those pins came in two rows with the jumper spanning the rows.  Were there variations on that of which I'm not familiar?

Oh yeah, looks like these pins are for something different.

But apparently different manufacturers can have a different pinout.

See above, they are jumpers for specific modes. Not needed for normal operation.

You can just plug them into your PC and use them as normal drive.
