Can I bring a brand new PSU to the UK in checked in luggage?

jawb

Hi,

I plan to buy some hardware (CPU, Mobo, GPU) in London from Amazon and would like to test it, can I bring my brand new PSU in luggage? SF750 still in original box and never used. I understand customs will check it but will they not allow it?

Thanks

I would recommend getting in contact with the airline your choosing. They would have better answers than anyone else. I fly all the time and have been given crap about having to many electronics in my backpack. Then I have to go through a ton of bs with security about it.

I know the airline have no problem with it because this same PSU was brought to me by a friend on the same airline from France. I'm concerned about the TSA in London.

Check to see if the label has some European or some other UK recognized regulatory stamp on it, like how stuff in the US should have an FCC logo. That alone should make it fine in the UK.

Otherwise there's nothing in a PSU that would be suspect unless the customs agents are thickheaded and think your PSU is some kind of terrorist thing.

If you're buying it in London, you're not bringing it to the UK; it's already there. So I think you need to rethink what you've asked.

It has all the standard stuff on it, normally it should be fine but you never know.

I have the PSU and I'm not in the UK, once I'm in the UK I want to buy other parts and need the PSU to test the whole PC is working.

I don't see a problem with it. If I can fly with a water purifier system in my luggage, im sure you can take a PSU.
