GTX 760 VS R9 270x

The 760 is slightly more powerful, but it's a difference of only a few FPS (ex: 2-3FPS in BF4)
I don't think the performance difference is worth 50$.

 

But then, there's the question of Mantle, G-Sync and all the other technologies specific to AMD or Nvidia.

I have the sapphire toxic 270x. Is a good card but the fan isn't so great. is louder than my 212 evo heatsink which is annoying when it speeds up * while not playing any game , just web surfing . but they performance is pretty much the same! depending if you want to spend $50 more for a few more FPS.

Witch technologies do you prefer, consider witch ones need you to but other hardware to utilize, example G-sync doesn't come with the GPU in a usable package, Mantle does.

That may make it sound single sided but give it some proper consideration.

If you want the Nvidia features then get the GTX 760. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1038 These are the benchmarks for the R9 270X vs GTX 760. It shows the GTX 760 is faster. If you okay with spending the extra money I would go with the GTX 760.

use msi afterburner.

OP, get a 270 and overclock its probably 33% cheaper than a 760 but not far off performance.

edit, wow huge difference between 650ti and 760, wth? and the 760 is a £200 card, you can get a r9-280x for not much more than that.

the msi gaming 270 is around £140, thats 30% less

no i dont think so, i usually put the fans up 5% at a time untill it reaches what i consider "the maximum ill put up with while gaming", the run afterburner and see how hot it gets and make an exponentially growing fan curve with the fan slow at minimum fan rpm at idle so its quiet, set a maximum temp id ever want it to rach (so your fans are noticably loud when somethings overheating and filled with dust and needs a clean), and yeah im sure you can work it out nice card btw.

Personally, I find myself doing that quite a lot. I like my items to explode into many small bits rather than fewer large bits.

We go and pay thousands more dollars than lower end builders and console gamers so that we have "top of the line" graphics. So why would not care about the little things? I really do think the physx makes a difference in games such as AC4, Batman AO, and Bord. 2. So while people throw a fit about "but do the little things really make a difference" i say "yes, because thats what i payed for"

for the 760:

-the 760 is overall more powerful

-has geforce experience with shadowplay

-better drivers

for the 270x:

-good overclocker

-mantle (in my opinion it makes negligible difference if you have a decent cpu)

-mining

Excellent statement. I see people still saying the 270x is more powerful from a gaming standpoint and honestly wonder where theyre getting this. Im with you, 760 was an amazing purchase that got me more power than I could have ever hoped for.

Well, all pc gamers are not graphic hoes, I don't game on PC for the graphics, and I believe most of pc gamers couldn't care less about graphics. So, don't say that "We go and pay thousands more dollars than lower end builders and console gamers so that we have "top of the line" graphics"  cause most of don't, and personally I played metro:last night with physx and without and I couldn't tell a difference at all.

The 760 is better, but in your case the 270 is better because a large price difference.

Well if he didnt care about graphics he could get a gt 610, if hes getting a 760/270 he obviously cares. And while i realize that not "every" pc gamer cares about graphics I wouldnt say that "most" dont care. I entirely agree with you that physx is minor, but in the end it is a difference and thats what I'm talking about. My 760 can already max out games, and so I have the power to still turn physx on.

If you buy a 270X and overclock it could be as fast as a GTX 760 but then you could overclock it further.

I would buy a GTX 760 B-Stock.
